Dear Ms. Finucane, I share Mr. Cochran's well-stated concerns. Please also pass along to the Committee my belief that establishing a pedestrian connection between the Riverside Station Development and Riverside Park is strategically crucial to the future viability of the Park and would provide an inestimable amenity to the residents and workers of the Development. The Park has fallen into disrepair partly because of its inaccessibility to local residents. The Department of Conservation and Recreation has finished restoring one of the two bridges that provided a walking loop through this beautiful and historic space, and will soon restore the other one. Providing access to the Park for Development residents and workers will provide the user base that will reinforce DCR's commitment to the Park. In the various places where I've worked throughout my career, I've always been able to find a nearby green space with paths where I could recharge with healthful exercise and reflection. Providing this same type of access to the Development, when there is such a nice place so close by, seems essential to any responsible permitting of the project.
