The Jackson Homestead and Museum has one parking space for people with disabilities and an access ramp to the main entry.
The museum has exhibitions on three levels.
There is an accessible restroom on the first floor. Currently on display on the main floor:
- Peeking into Newton’s Toy Chest
- Annie Cobb: An Architect Ahead of Her Time
- Rotating exhibits in the East Gallery
The lower (basement) level is accessible by steep, carpeted stairs inside the building or by going around the outside of the building to the rear door. There is a restroom with 3 steps up on the lower level. The lower (basement) level features:
- Confronting Our Legacy: Slavery and Antislavery in the North
The Confronting Our Legacy exhibit includes audio wands. Please inquire at the front desk for transcripts of the material from the audio wands. - The Newton History Gallery
The second floor (which has rotating exhibits) is accessible by carpeted stairs only. There are no restrooms on the second floor.
We are always happy to help any visitor without prior notification. However, we recommend that visitors who require assistance call 617-796-1450 in advance to alert staff, arrange for an ASL interpreter for public programs at the Jackson Homestead and Museum, or schedule a guided tour. Additional fees may apply.
