Learn about people who came to Newton from different parts of the world in the 19th and 20th centuries: why they immigrated, where they settled, and how they helped build our city. Our series of seven videos introduces you to guest narrators telling the history of different immigrant groups in locations that relate to community history.

Links to each video may be found below. They are listed roughly in order of when large numbers of immigrants from a particular group arrived in Newton. Note that the videos were created by Historic Newton staff, not professional videographers. We hope you enjoy learning more about Newton history by watching them.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Newton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, and a Bridge Street Sponsorship from Mass Humanities. The Charles River Neighborhood Foundation also provided support.
