Preventing Ice Dams

Scrape the first several feet of snow from the edge of the roof line. This can be accomplished with a roof rake or by physically climbing onto the roof via a ladder and shoveling the snow. However, if you so insist on doing the work yourself, always have your cell phone handy – a call to 911 will be required when/if you fall.
