Newton’s Urban Forestry Program
For over 100 years the City has been actively caring for its street trees, park trees and all other trees located on City open space. This includes 20,000 street trees and countless trees on City owned open spaces.
We deeply and personally care about the Communities trees and strive to make the most of the means we are provided to care for the City’s trees.
Mission
To preserve a safe, healthy public tree population that maximizes the benefits gained from the urban forest while striving to resolve the concerns of all our customers, encourage community and private partnerships, while providing cost effective professional care.
To accomplish our mission our professional team inspects and monitors our trees on a regular basis. We utilize a private tree care firm to prune and remove the City’s trees. Our main focus is on dead and dangerous limbs and trees.
We depend on and encourage the public to communicate their concerns to us.
