Workers Compensation Information
The City of Newton strives to provide a safe workplace for all of our Employees. Our goal is to ensure that all of our Employees go home at the end of the day just as they arrived, injury free. We are committed to ensuring the Safety and wellbeing of all of our employees.
In the event of an injury/accident on the job the employee MUST report the incident to their immediate supervisor and the Workers’ Compensation Manager in Human Resources as soon as possible. All incidents are to be reported regardless of the need for medical treatment at the time.
An Employee’s Notice of Injury Form shall be completed by the injured employee as soon as possible. Forms are available in Human Resources as well as on the city website. Employees shall complete an Employee Notice of Injury Form as soon as possible after an injury, even if no medical treatment is needed at the time.
Upon receipt we have 14 days to investigate the claim and determine if it will or will not be paid under Workers Compensation. All claims are investigated by the WC Manager.
Our goal is to ensure that all injured employees are seen as soon as possible by qualified medical personnel. If you need assistance in scheduling an appointment we have an RN, Medical Case Manager, contracted with the City to help you. We strive to help coordinate appointments with top-notch qualified licensed medical providers, as soon as possible, so that you can get better and return to work.
The City of Newton is Self-Insured, there is not an insurance carrier or third party administrator (TPA) involved. Most doctors’ offices will want the name of the carrier and pre-approval, or precertification of treatment, and promise of payment under WC, before they will see you. Please call us so we can help.
