Newton Parks and Recreation Presents Wilderness Education for Middle Schoolers

Have you ever wanted to learn skills and build knowledge to survive in the wilderness?  If so, this program is for you!  This experience will expose participants to survival skills such as constructing a shelter, how to safely build a fire, navigating through a forest without a map or compass, identifying edible and medicinal plants, and more.  This program runs Monday - Friday rain or shine.

Who: Explorers going into grades 6 - 9

Where: Nahanton Park, 455 Nahanton Street

When:  Level 1: August 12 - 16     Level 2: August 19 - 23

Level 2 participants need to be registered for Level 1 for this summer, or have completed the Wilderness Survival program in previous summers.

Time: 9:00am – 3:30pm

Cost: $415.00

Limited to 14 participants

 

Registration begins on Wednesday January 31, 2024 for Newton residents online at www.newtonmarec.com  Non residents can register starting March 1st if space is still available.
