Flutter is a temporary art installation on Newton park lands conceived in 2022. The goal of this project is to enhance public spaces and create connections throughout the community. Butterflies have lives of transformation and resilience, an appropriate reminder for us in our current climate. Six (6) butterflies are installed on park lands across Newton. This project is organized and funded through Newton Cultural Development, a department with Newton Parks, Recreation, & Culture.
Newton’s public art projects aim to not only enrich the community and improve our quality of life but to ignite the imagination, encourage thought, and to prompt dialogue with one another. Flutter is a whimsical addition to the City's common spaces and invites the public to see the world around us in new and unexpected ways.
Flutter boards are hibernating for the winter but will one again be installed in early in various public parks. More details forthcoming.
