The City of Newton’s Division of Urban Forestry is the lead agency in the City for the care of public trees.

The Division is part of the Department of Parks and Recreation. By City ordinance the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation is the Tree Warden and has ultimate authority over City trees.

The daily duties of managing the care and custody of the City’s trees are placed in the hands of the Division of Urban Forestry.

Division Staff are responsible for the inspection and maintenance of most City owned trees.
