This area can be easily accessed from Suffolk Road or Clovelly Road. The 14-acre parcel once contained close to 40 deer. It was acquired with an understanding that the city would care for the deer. When MA Wildlife learned of the situation, it wanted the deer released, but the City instituted a population-control program, darting the females with contraceptive implants each spring. The last of the herd perished during the winter of 2010-2011. The Old Deer Park is now open to the public.
