How do I request a ride?
Call 1-855-605-8544 and either speak with an operator or use the automated selections to request a ride. You can also speak with an operator to add your credit card, to add particular destinations, or to ask other questions.
Once I apply for GoGo Newton, how long will it be before I can use the service?
The City will review each application to determine if someone is eligible to use the service and what their base price will be. That information will be sent to GoGo. You will be notified of acceptance by GoGo via email or text the week of June 24. Before your first ride, you will need to provide GoGo with a credit card as your payment method. (You cannot pay the drivers.)
You can also give GoGo a list of places you frequent and the name of a friend or family member you’d like to be notified of the status of your rides. Additionally, please let GoGo know if you use a walker or wheelchair and would like extra assistance from the driver.
I don’t have a credit card. What other forms of payment are accepted?
You can use a debit card or gift card as your payment method. You can also mail GoGo a check. If you use a gift card, you must purchase one with a $60 balance. Likewise, if you send a check, you must send one in increments of $60 — i.e. you can send $60 or $120.
Checks may take up to two weeks to clear before the credit is added to your GoGo Newton account, so please plan ahead. The mailing address for checks is GoGo Technologies Inc., DBA GoGoGrandparent, PO Box 25634, Pasadena, CA 91185-5634.
If I use a gift card or check as my payment method, how will I know what my balance is?
If you have computer access, you can log into your GoGo Newton account and see how much credit you have used. You can also speak to an agent and ask how much credit you have. It’s very important that you keep track of your balance. If you go to the grocery store, for example, and you don’t have enough credit to pay for a return trip, you will have to find another way home.
What if I’m 62 years old and have not used NewMo senior service?
You may still be eligible for this program, if you are living with a disability or you receive public assistance.
What determines the cost of a ride?
There are several factors, including how far you travel and how much demand there is for rides at the time you call. For example, the total cost of a ride to a nearby Newton village at 10 a.m. might be less than the total cost of a ride to a Boston hospital at 5 p.m. during rush hour.
How will I know the total cost of my rides?
If you request a ride on demand, you will be told the cost before the ride is booked. If you preschedule rides, GoGo will confirm the ride details and the cost of the ride shortly before the time of your ride.
Can I take additional rides beyond what is subsidized?
Yes! However, you will pay the full fare and will be responsible for the $5 fee to speak with an operator if applicable.
Is there a cost to speak to an operator?
GoGo Newton includes an automated phone system that works quite well for many rides. The cost to speak with an operator is $5/call, with Newton covering the cost of these calls for the rides that are subsidized.
If I don’t use all of my rides one month, can I use them the next month?
No. Unused rides cannot be carried over.
Will my ride be private?
Yes! All rides will be private, unless you choose to travel with a friend, family member, or companion.
How long will I wait for a ride?
GoGo works with Uber and Lyft, so the average wait time will be less than 20 minutes from the time you book your ride! Still, please allow an extra 30-minute buffer for doctor appointments.
I need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Can GoGo provide that?
Yes, with advance notice. Please schedule your ride 48 hours in advance. On-demand rides in Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles cannot be accommodated.
Can I tip my driver?
Riders can give the driver a cash tip, can call the call center to add a tip, or can add one through the client dashboard.
