PARKING CHANGES IN THE VICINITY OF SCHOOLS
At the June 25, 2020 meeting, the Newton Traffic Council voted to allow trial actions and changes in the vicinity of any school in Newton. These temporary trials may include modifications to the traffic flow, parking regulations, turning restrictions, and/or pavement markings. The purpose and goal for these trial actions is to improve safety, encourage more walking and bicycling to school, and reduce congestion around schools during pick-up and drop-off time periods. These changes are temporary in nature and would revert to the previous conditions unless Traffic Council subsequently votes to make these changes permanent.
