Goals:
Coleman House Senior Housing Preservation project will rehabilitate and restore the thirty year old buildings which currently provide housing and supportive services to 146 very low and extremely low income senior households (at or below 50% AMI) in Newton. 2Life Communities, which owns and operates the building, proposes a complete restoration of the existing building and its mechanical systems and rehabilitation of all of its existing housing units. All existing units will be reconfigured to meet 2Life's adaptable design standards and accessibility requirements and the existing program spaces will be redesigned to serve as a village center for residents. The project includes a commitment to sustainability and the renovations are designed to meet Enterprise Green Communities standards.

December 8, 2020 - Pre-Proposal presentation reviewed and accepted by CPC. Pre-Proposal materials considered to be a complete Full Proposal to be scheduled for review in January 2021.
January 8, 2021 - New information submitted for Joint Public Hearing with the Planning and Development Board on January 12 including
- Updated Budget for Use of CPA and CDBG Funding

January 12, 2021 - Presentation for Joint Public Hearing with Planning and Development Board followed by project discussion. CPC unanimously votes to recommend full funding of the project to the City Council.
January 20, 2021 - CPC Funding Recommendation sent to City Council for approval.
March 2 and 8, 2021 - Project presentations made to the Land Use and Finance Committee and both committees recommend approval.
March 15,2021 - City Council votes to approve the CPC's recommendation for full funding.
February 5, 2024 - Final Report submitted for CPC review.
February 13, 2024 - Final Report was approved by CPC and the final 10% of funding was released.
