Call for high school artists.

The Student Gallery provides an opportunity for Newton high-school students to showcase their artwork. This is a great opportunity for high-school artists to share their creativity with the community, to be recognized for their talent, and to build up their portfolios and exhibition experience.

We are accepting all types of 2-D artworks that can be displayed on the walls of the gallery, including but not limiting to, drawings, paintings, photography, and digital art. For your information, an introduction to Newton City Hall Galleries is noted below to help you choose the works for your exhibition.

About The City Hall Galleries

The Newton City Hall Galleries are composed of three galleries, the Community Gallery located on the first-floor hallway, the Mayor’s Fine Art Gallery located on the second-floor hallway, and the Stairway Gallery located on two stairways from 1st floor to 2nd floor Mayor’s Office. All exhibitions in our galleries are free and open to the public during City Hall business hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Our goal is to display high quality, original artworks, with a preference given to local artists and organizations.

The City Hall Galleries provide an important platform for local people with diverse background to appreciate art and talk about art together. The ongoing series of free public exhibitions highlight local artistic talent, reflects the City’s dedication to the arts, and provides a space where visual artists can share their voice with the community.

The Gallery Program:

• Provides opportunities for local and regional artists at all career levels to exhibit their artwork and ideas in a public venue.
• Provides resources, education, and artistic initiatives to support and serve individual artists and organizations in our community.
• Supports our department’s goal of enhancing the quality of life for visitors and residents, thus strengthening our community by creating a greater sense of place. 

How to Submit 

To submit your artwork, please complete this google form for submission (with high-resolution images of your work).

While there will be no restriction on what designs can be submitted, all work should be appropriate for viewers of all ages and should not contain any violence; profanity; drug use; racism; or commercial, political, or religious content as determined by the City.
