The City of Newton in conjunction with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is making improvements to the Needham Street Corridor. The project goals are to improve multimodal accommodations, traffic safety and operations, and transit operations. The improvements include widening the roadway, new pavement, raised bike lanes, new sidewalks, a shared use path for bikes and pedestrians, new traffic signals at existing locations, two new traffic signal locations, and storm water improvements. Construction is scheduled to be complete in Fall 2024. The project stretches from Webster Street in Needham to Route 9 in Newton.
