MBTA is leading this project to enhance accessibility to the existing Newton Highlands T station on the Green Line D Branch. The project will have ADA/MAAB compliant ramps and access paths from Walnut Street, Hyde Street, and Station Avenue. There will be new level boarding platforms with tactile edge, multiple accessible pedestrian-grade crossings connecting inbound and outbound platforms, and new heated aluminum shelters on the inbound platform. There will also be new lighting, communication systems, and security cameras, benches, directional signage, and bicycle shelters.
