Peirce Elementary School is a typical 1950s vintage 36,000 square foot school that uses its original old oil fired steam boilers and distribution system for heating. This antiquated heating system will be transformed into a modern system that will heat the building without the use fossil fuels using heat pump technology consistent with the goals of the City of Newton Climate Action plan. The City will update a study that was previously done by the Dept. of Public Buildings using a grant from the Mass. Dept. of Energy Resources to help guide its design alternatives. revised 07.01.2021 - Peirce School Heating System Improvements Facility Flyer
